Hi, I have a question regarding my friend. She is a twenty nine years old woman diagnosed with Grave's disease. She undertakes a medical therapy that is, fortunately, helping her. Anyway, she is constantly seeing a doctor. In a couple of days she is to have her blood tested. What does a blood sample shows in Grave's disease?

Hi, grave's disease is an autoimmune disease. It affects thyroid gland. What happens is that immune system creates antibodies that influence this gland's production of a hormone called thyroxin. The production of this hormone is increased. There is no cure for Grave's disease, but the symptoms created by it can be kept under control with the help of medication. Blood tests made for people with this illness will show the levels of the thyroxin. If it is high, then the medications that are prescribed are not helping and therefore need to be changed. Grave's disease is very rare and is rarely life threatening.
