I am interested in complete description of ingredients of asacol. What exactly does contain delayed release tablet of asacol that is prescribed for oral administration? I am on 400mg asacol tablets because of chrons disease that was diagnosed with a month ago. I have started with asacol 3 days ago and I believe that it caused me rash and redness on arms and legs. And it is itchy.

Active ingredient in asacol delayed release tablet is mesalamine that is an anti-inflammatory drug. Delayed release tablets are coated with a kind of acrylic based resin which dissolves at pH7. Inactive ingredients of asacol are lactose, magnesium stearate, povidone, talc, silicon dioxide, artificial colors like iron oxide red and yellow. It may be that you have reacted on some of the inactive ingredients.
