Hello! I am Mary and I am seventeen. I have a friend who is very interested in psychology. Sometimes he can be very interesting but sometimes he speaks about things which I don’t understand. I feel stupid in such situations. For example, yesterday he mentioned CBT and I acted like I know what it was. But, I didn’t!! What is CBT?

Hello! CBT is an abbreviation for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. It is a form of psychotherapy based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people and events. Cognitive-behavioral therapists try to find out what their clients want and then help them achieve those goals. The therapist listens, teaches and encourages, while the client talk about concerns, learns and implement that learning.
