What is Degenertive CNS disease!

Hello. I'm 22 year old male and I would like to find out more information about one clinical term.
Few days ago my best friend found out that his mother suffers from some very serious CNS disease called multiple sclerosis.
I really don’t know anything about this disease but her neurologist told him that we are talking about one very serious degenerative CNS disease.
We didn’t quite understand this term “degenerative” and we would really like if someone could explain this term more precise!

Hello. I'm very sorry about your friend’s mother because we really do talk about one very serious CNS disease. I will tell you more about term- degenerative!
It is believed that all the symptoms that follow degenerative CNS diseases result from damage to the myelin sheath, the protective material that surrounds nerve cells. All this leads to degeneration of myelin and damage to the nerves.
It is prove that this is an autoimmune disease which means that body’s immune system thinks that myelin sheath is some kind of foreign tissue and fight against it! There is no cure for this kind of disease for now!
