Hydrochlorot is a diuretic and is helpful in treating edema (body swelling) and water retention and high blood pressure. It decreases the amount of fluid in the body by increasing the amount of salt and water we lose in our urine.
You need to make sure you don’t dehydrate while on this drug, so take enough water especially in hot days or during exercise. Also, hydrochlorot is well known of decreasing potassium levels in the body, so hydrochlorot is often prescribed with a potassium-sparing drug. If not, make sure you have enough potassium in-take. Potassium is important in muscle and nerve activity and may lead to muscle weakness or arrhythmias.
Other side effects, a person may experience while taking this drug is constipation, cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, heartburn, loss of appetite, restlessness, or upset stomach but these are short-lived and usually go away as soon as the body gets used to the drug. |
