Hi, I would like to hear something about diphtheria, actually what is the best protection against it. My husband and I are going to tropical Africa this summer and we have heard of diphtheria occurring possibility. We are still going there, but we should know how to protect ourselves. Do we need some vaccine?

Most likely, you already have the bets protection for it; via DPT shots (D stands for diphtheria). Additional shots will only boost the immune system more against that condition. Because of that, diphtheria has almost vanished from developed countries with a solid health care. While taking a vaccine for the first time a high concentration is applied, while lower concentration could be applied afterwards in life.
