What is the camphor making procedure?

I have been using Vicks Vaporun for dealing with my colds and I have to admit that it really helped. I was a bit surprised when I read about ingredients. I got curious and I asked all my friends, even a doctor about the process of making camphor. No one knew. So, what is the camphor making procedure?

I can only say what I have read on internet, it is made from geranyl pyrophosphate, by a cyclisation process. So, I have t say I did not understand one word of these, but I can say for certainty that Vicks really helped me when I had problems with coughing; it seems it would not go away, until I started with that medication.

What is the camphor making procedure?
