What is the difference between Avonex and Copaxone in MS treatment?

My friend has multiple sclerosis for years. She is on Copaxone and she is satisfied with this drug very much. Last month my mother has been diagnosed with MS also but her doctor prescribed to her Avonex. Tell me, please, what is the difference between Avonex and Copaxone in MS treatment?

First, Avonex and Copaxone are different kind of drugs for MS. Avonex is beta interferon and it’s for people with relapsing forms of MS who can still walk. Copaxone is an alternative to beta interferons if you have relapsing remitting MS. Copaxone is injected every day but Avonex only once a week.

What is the difference between Avonex and Copaxone in MS treatment?
