Please, can somebody help me? Today my doctor told me that I have diabetic nephropathy. Now I’m afraid because he said that it’s very serious kidney disease which can cause severe problems. It’s very important to treat it well. Does anybody know what the most effective treatment for diabetic nephropathy is? Thanks!

First of all, you doctor probably prescribed you medicaments that control blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Also keep your cholesterol level as close to normal as possible. Maybe you need drugs for that too. And low-fat diet is very important. Of course, you should exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight. Avoid salt and do not smoke.
