What is this brown discharge before my periods?

Hi all,

For many years now (probably since having my 2nd child) around a week before my period comes i have about 4-5 days where i get horrible, thick dark brown discharge. I am 22 have 2 girls (6 and 4) and i am not on any pills injections etc... I am not regular either with my period, only having them every 3 months or so. I spoke to my doctor about my periods but she said i was just irregular, nothing to worry about. I diddnt mention about the discharge though. It is always before a period, this is how i know when it is coming as i get this awfull stuff.
Does anybody have any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Very Happy
