Hello! My cousin is a diabetic. His mother was a diabetic too. Although she was telling him all the time he shouldn’t eat so much he didn’t care. I remember he was very fat when he was a child. Then he started losing weight and his doctor diagnosed diabetes. He has been taking medicines for some time and his blood sugar is brought in the normal range. His doctor also says he has to exercise more but we don’t know what kind of exercises can a diabetic do.

Hello! Well, your cousin had two important factors that most probably triggered his diabetes. He inherited the predisposition to this disease and then increased the risk by his unbalanced nutrition. Regular exercise is very important for diabetics since it can lower blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure. The risk of heart disease is decreased and the activity of insulin is increased. Twenty minutes of walking every day has a beneficial effect and keep in mind that some exercise (no matter how well or how long) is better than no exercise. As I know there are few different modes of exercises: warm-ups, aerobics, strength exercises and cool-downs. Warm-ups and cool-downs are most important for the safety of the exerciser. Aerobic strengthens the heart and keeps the exerciser’s muscles warms while strength exercises create endurance. There are many books with detailed instructions, examples and easy to follow pictures. In addition to exercise and insulin regulation he shouldn’t forget his diet.
