My cousin is diabetic and he’s afraid that he can get a diabetic nephropathy. I read a lot about this disease. Now, I know the most important facts about diabetic nephropathy. But yesterday my friend told me about IgA nephropathy and I realize that it’s totally different disease. Tell me, please, what's the difference between IgA Nephropathy and diabetic nephropathy?

The main difference between IgA nephropathy and diabetic nephropathy is that diabetic nephropathy happens only to people with diabetes. But anybody can get IgA nephropathy (or Berger's disease). It’s a kidney disorder caused by abnormal deposits of the immunoglobulin A (IgA) inside the small blood vessels of your kidneys. Of course, treatments for these conditions are totally different also.
