I am suffering from asthma for almost 5 years. Last few months, I have been taking a new medication, Cromolyn. He explained me that it does not help with the attack itself, it is used strictly for prevention. It stabilizes the cells and prevents the attacks of bronchial asthma. What type of mast cell stabilizer Cromolyn sodium is?

Cromolyn sodium is a medicament used as a chronic prophylaxis. It cannot stop the asthma attack that already began. Its mechanism is based on stabilization of mastocytes, and in that way, it prevents the secretion of mediators of inflammation. This goes especially for histamine. Its effect is specific for one certain type of cells mastocytes, and for one type of antibodies IGE.
