When does diastolic heart failure occure?

Hello! This morning my dad told me that he has diastolic heart failure. I’m worried a lot. My mum tried to explain to me what it is and I understood that it means that the heart's pumping power is weaker than normal. Somebody tell me when does diastolic heart failure occur?

Hi! I can understand you totally. I remember when I heard that my dad had this illness. I was so afraid. Then doctors explained me many things about diastolic heart failure. It occurs when the heart contracts normally, but the ventricle doesn't relax properly and because of that less blood can enter the heart.
