When is chorionic villus sampling done?

My wife is 32 years old and she is pregnant for three weeks now. We are both very happy but we are also concerned considering her age. Can you tell us something more about the chorionic villus sampling? When is it done? Is my wife someone who should really take that test?

Well, usually that test is taken by pregnant women older than 35. And also, if the screen results showed some abnormalities in the first three months, this test is done. Actually, whenever there is some problem, this kind of procedure might help. But, it is too early to think about that. For now, enjoy her pregnancy and hope that there won’t be any problems.
