Hi, I am interested to know where urinary tract infection occurs. Is it in the kidneys, the bladder or somewhere else?

Hi, actually you can have infection of bladder and kidneys, or any other part of urinary tract. But, mostly bladder infections are known as UTI. They are very spread, for example if you sit on a cold chair or seat, you can develop infection. Normally, urine should be sterile, free of bacteria and viruses. An infection occurs when bacteria spread from digestive system or genital system multiply in bladder. Escherichia coli (E. coli) causes most infections and it is normally present in the colon. If infection stays limited to the urethra, it is called urethritis.
