Hello! My brother has an eleven years old daughter who is really good kid. She looks like a model and her room is full of posters of movie stars and famous models. She does well in school and she is healthy. I have heard her complaining she is overweight. Is this some sign of possible eating disorder? Who has the greatest risk of developing eating disorder?

Hello! You brother’s daughter is in difficult phase of her childhood and she starts to know herself in another way then before. It is completely normal she is interested in famous singers and actors. Almost all girls at her age are not satisfied how they look like. Teenage girls are at the greatest risk of developing eating disorders as well as children raised in a dysfunctional family. It is good you are careful since many parents miss the signs such as attempting to miss meals, not eating with the family or visiting the toilet after eating which may be connected with eating disorder.
