Who suffers from fungal folliculitis?

My 8 year old kid has been diagnosed with fungal folliculitis and he will be at home until he is better. I hope that it will be soon because he missed his school already for two weeks because of the strong cold he just had. Anyway, who suffers form fungal folliculitis? Only kids or adults too?
