Will RA necessarilly cause sjögrens syndrome?

Last week I was at my friend's house for a visit. She, just like me, was diagnosed with RA. In the matter of fact we met in hospital during diagnostic procedures and we see each other regularly ever since. She told me about hers last visit to the doctor. The doctor told her that she would develop sjögrens syndrome. Will RA necessarily cause sjögrens syndrome?

Except that both of these diseases are autoimmune, and a basic cause if both is not found yet, I have no further information. A friend of mine has RA for several years but until now she didn't develop sjögrens syndrome. She heard the story you wrote about and asked her doctor. Doctor said that those two diseases are not necessarily connected.
