Hi all - I'm 25, been on Yasmin for about 5 years, with no real side effects other than some slight weight gain (5 pounds maybe). Due to high blood pressure, the doctor wants me to switch to Yaz due to lower hormone levels.

Has anyone else made the switch? I've read some scary side effects of Yaz, but I'm hoping that if I didn't experience any on Yasmin, then I probably wouldn't experience any on Yaz either. . .

Anyone? Help me feel better (or I'll tell my doctor I'm not comfortable switching)!

YAZ and Yasmin are the same, just YAZ is a lower dose.

IF you did well on the higher dose YASMIN, you may do well on YAZ too.

BC pills are trial and error, many women have to go through 2-3 pills befor they find a good fit.

I was on yaz for 3 months and it was great! My face totally cleared in a matter of weeks and it really helped with PMS. By accident my new doctor put me on Yasmin instead of yaz and I am a little afriad of the sideaffects. It will be a while until I can get back on yaz so I was wondering if anyone had any major issues with yasmin?

I was on yasmin for four months and it caused me to have very high blood pressure, which in turn caused severe nose bleeds.

I was on Yasmin for 6 months. I didn't have any side effects with taking Yasmin. My doctor recommended that I try Yaz to see if I liked it better than Yasmin.
When I went to fill my prescription of Yaz I found out that it is about three times the price of Yasmin. I thought that it seemed strange for Yaz to be more expensive than Yasmin, when I have been told that it has the same hormones as Yasmin but just a lower amount.
Regardless of the price I filled my Prescription and decided to give Yaz a try. I have been on Yaz for three months and for the last month my scalp has been tender and my hair is showing signs of thinning. I looked up side effects of B.C pills and thinning hair is one of them. Maybe this would have happened eventually with the Yasmin considering it has the same components as Yaz but it didn't. I have an appointment with my doctor soon to discus trying a new pill that would work better for me. Maybe she will recommend going back to Yasmin.

In any case Yaz is curiously over priced.

I've been on Yaz for about 2 years. I haven't experienced any side effects and it has worked well for me by shortening the duration of my period and making it much much lighter.

Before Yaz, I had tried Ortho Tricyclen and Alesse both of which stopped working after about a year (meaning I went back to having long, heavy, and unbearable periods rendering me useless for 2+ weeks a month).

Yaz does carry a stiff price but I finally found a pill that solves my problems so I am sticking with what works. Too bad Yaz isn't as cheap as Yasmin.

I was on Yasmin for ove r a year and LOVED IT! It cleared my skin, didn't gain on ounce and my periods were only 3 or 4 days. Although, the first month I went on it was rough, I did break out, very emotional and breast tenderness.
I've recently just switched to Yaz, I am only on day 3. I've experienced bad headaches and loss of energy. I am hoping my body regulates itself out. But I can't help but worry after all the negative feedback I've heard from this pill.

I am about to get on YAZ, I went to my derm to talk about accutane and
was told I have to be on two forms of BC. She let me know that YAZ is the ONLY BC pill that has one particular ingredient that they give to patients with acne problems. This ingredient acts as a diuretic, helps with acne, and also lowers blood pressure. Sorry I cannot for the life of me remember its name.

I have heard so many good things about YAZ that I cannot wait to begin.

Ok so I did a lot of research on the Yaz vs. Yasmin before asking my doctor to put me on one. All through high school I was on Orth-Tri-Cyclin (sp)... great pill except I did find that I was super depressed on it. Shortly after high school I got off the BC, and went without anything. Then I got back on Ortho again because my doctor said that worked before. Again I became really depressed and never remember to take the silly thing. I get a great idea having no kids and two people I work with that have this IUD in. Well huge mistake... pain every day. Through all these changes in BC my new doctor tells me that I have developed PMDD. I have what?? Then I learn that my cousin is on the pill Yaz for the same thing... (Sigh) at least I am not the only one. I ask my doctor to try this new pill Yaz I must have actually said Yasmin because that it what I got and didn't know it for a month; too close in name. Anyhow I LOVED it. My moods were so much better I can't even tell you. I finally felt "normal" again. Well then I realize I am not on YAZ which is what I thought I asked for because let's face it... any pill to help lose weight is worth a try in most women’s books. Well so after a month I switched to the lower estrogen Yaz from Yasmin. BIG mistake!!! I almost immediately started having anxiety attacks, depression, paranoia, always keyed-up, overwhelmed, etc... All the lovely side effects that I had read about. Not to mention PMDD amplified to the max. I don't put too much merit in the internet usually because it tends to be the most extreme cases... however ladies just make sure to watch for the side effects everyone is talking about. Who would have known that a 10mg lower dose of estrogen would cause such major changes!
