I've been on Yaz for 2 and a half weeks now. I had sex 2 weeks ago. Now for the past week I'm more tired than normal, nauseous, constipated, breasts and nipples tender, depressed, and it is making me nervous. I've read that Yaz can make you feel this way but I am still worried that I may be pregnant. What do you all think, is it the Yaz making me feel this way or am I pregnant?

So, you had unprotected sex after only half a week on Yasmin? You better take a pregnancy test! You are supposed to use a backup method for protection during the first two weeks or so of starting BCP.

I just wanted to add another story to the list because I love this site and I feel more comfortable the more I read..so I will add another story for those who feel the same way! I am a sunday starter and I have completed 5 packs of Yaz. My first 3 packs were normal started my period on Friday and done on Sunday. The 4th pack I had 2 periods the 3rd and 4th weekend. Now I have finished my 5th pack..today is my last white pill day and still no period. I am a little concerned but I'm not rushing out to get a test just yet after reading everyone else's experiences. I'm pretty confident that I am not prego because I haven't missed any pills or been sick. Hope this can give some comfort like it did me, Smile

I know this msg is kind of late. all of everyone elses msgs are from last year but i am so glad to know that as well, i am not the only with panicing and having issues. i have looked so much and this is the only page i could find info that satisfied me. my period would come the last day of the white pill or the first of the pink and the flow would be fairly normal. significantly lighter than before i was on the pill but it was actually satisfying now that i know how nerve racking it is to have an abnormal flow. but this month its more of spotting i think. i have a VERY small amount of dark blood come out a day. i am nervous because i had unprotected sex on the first or second of the white pill. now i do take the pill every day and once i was probably about 12 hrs late. this seems to be a ritual every month of getting paranoid when its time for my period...maybe i should do somehting about that Embarassed i have taken two pregancy tests in the last two days...not that it would show...i think. but anyway this was very helpful and i cant thank you all enough!!!

im not gonna bother with another story which is exactly the same as all of yours. just know i know how you all feel with the missed or late periods. i say we all get together or all right letters to yaz at least and let them know that this info should be made public and that they should join with pregnancy test company cause im sure they are making alot og money off of us. i know im guilty!

PostPosted: 04/28/08 - 10:43    Post subject: Missed Periods & Decreased sex drive Vote now! Reply with quote

I started Yaz in January. That month I went to Hawaii and tried to "skip" my period by going straight into a new pack (I've done this before in the past with other pills I've been on). It backfired and I ended up with a period that lasted 2 weeks. In February I had a normal 4 day period. March and April I had about half a day of "spotting" during my period time. I'm definitely not pregnant, I'm very careful, and I've tested, just to be sure.

It sounds like missed or super-light periods are normal for Yaz, and while I guess I don't mind I do hate the "will I/won't I" waiting game.

Someone mentioned decreased sex drive. I have definitely have noticed that. I just didn't put 2 & 2 together until now. All I can say about that is that since I know what the issue is, I just make more of an effort Wink

I went to Europe about 2 weeks ago and there was a six hour time difference there. I usually take my pill at around 9 every night. However, when i was away i began taking it at 9 at night in Europe, which was technically 3 in the afternoon at home. Then when i got back a week ago i began taking it again at 9 at night at home, which was 3 in the night in Europe. My schedule got all messed up from switching time zones. I didnt feel like waking myself up when i was away at 4 in the morning just to take my medicine. I still have not gotten my period and i usually get it on the second to last white pill which was yesterday. I am now on my last qhite pill today and still no period. I always use condoms and if i dont then my boyfriend withdraws. I dont know what to do?

What a releif to read all these post of women going through the same thing. I started YAZ a month ago on the first day of my period...I took the last white pill last week and still no period...I haven't started a new pack because I don't want to harm my baby if I am infact pregnant. I only had sex once this last month but without protection so I need to take a test to make sure, but based on what I'm reading missed periods seems to be the norm with this pill...kinda good;kinda bad. I hate feeling so much anxiety wondeirng if I am pregnanat when I know that I am taking the pill to prevent it. Oh well I'll take the test and make the best of what the results display.

I've been on Yaz for a little over a year now.

I didn't like it at the beginning. I was spotting here and there. Kind of nauseated. But, we had been using condoms before, and that got annoying. Dr. started me on the pill just over a month before my honeymoon, because I was getting married and didn't want my period on our wedding day and didn't want it during the week we were away on our honeymoon. I took the first 3 weeks of the pink pills in the first pack, then skipped the whole fourth week (pink & white pills), just threw that pack away. I then picked right up at the beginning of the second pack taking the pink pills - didn't have a period - worked like a charm!

I was taking the pill at night. The problem I made for myself was when I forgot to take one of the pills one night while we were on our honeymoon, and I took it in the morning when I remembered. I was right to take the pill as soon as I remembered, but I was supposed to take the next pill that night, and continue my normal nightime dosing schedule. Instead I wound up switching myself to a morning schedule, and totally skipped that one pink pill, and totally threw my entire system off!!! Was bleeding every day for like a month, all nauseated, felt horrible! Once I got straightened around and just stayed on that morning dosing schedule, it's been pretty much ok.

I will get some light cramping & light spotting around the end of the 3rd week of pink pills. I have no idea why, but it happens. I will say I have never been so bloated and gassy though!!!! The downsides to Yaz for me are bloating, LOTS of gas, and a really diminished sex drive (unfortunately). Haven't figured out how to solve these problems yet. I also noticed that I have to take the pills at the same exact time every day - if I'm more than a half-hour late for one, I'll have spotting. I am really sensitive to these things apparently!!

I'm on a Sunday start. My period never starts on the day I take the 1st inactive (white) pill, it starts when I'm taking the 3rd, sometimes even the 4th inactive pill - this is normal.

My advice would be: 1. Give it more time - some of you have stated you've only been taking Yaz a month, or 3 months - let your body have time to get used to the pill, and most of the time it'll get better for you. 2. If you're trying to NOT have a period, like I was, like if you're going on a trip, do like I did, take the pink pills for the first 3 weeks and throw the whole 4th week away and get a new pack and start all over with the first pill. Don't take any pills in that last week in the first pack. If you do, you'll throw your schedule off and it won't work.
3. Having your husband or boyfriend "pull out" does nothing to prevent pregnancy. You can still get pregnant if you are not using birth control, or if you are taking the pill and aren't taking them correctly, or on time, or you miss one here & there.
4. Take each pill each day at the same time, regardless of where you are. If you switch timezones, take it at the time you would take it at your home, stay on schedule! I live in Ohio, I'm going to Colorado next month, there's a 2-hour time difference. Here at home I take the pill at 9:30 am. You better believe I'll be up every morning at 7:30am in Colorado to take that pill. If I take it at 9:30am there, it'll actually be 11:30am here, and that will be telling my body that I'm 2 hours late, and I don't want to suffer the consequences!! Laughing

I just wanted to say thank God I found this forum online because I was freaking out the same way everyone else has been! I feel much better now, although I definitely agree that there should be a bigger emphasis on the fact that missing your period can be a side effect! Thanks to all of you who shared your stories and eased my mind. Smile
