After reading many of these posts, I've sort of come to a conclusion.
It would seem that Yaz can cause emotional disturbances in those who did not previously have any issues - but at the same time - can help get rid of them in those who do have emotional problems.
Basically, only take it if you have PMDD problems, is what it sounds like to me.
Is anyone else getting that impression? |

| I have been on Yaz for a month.. Its been the worst month of my life.. I have to take it a night because if i take it during the day it gives me the same side effects as if i were on a prescription pain medicine. My mood swings are horrible! Im going back on old pill..loegestrin. |

| I started taking YAZ almost 9 months ago, and at first I didn't have any negative side effects. Two weeks ago I started having panic attacks and anxiety problems, and I was put on Klonopin and BuSpar. It is helping somewhat, but I have stopped taking the YAZ. I am convinced that the pills triggered my attacks. I think that birth control just screws with some people's hormones worse than others. I took Ortho-tri-cyclen, and I became severelt depressed on it and had to go on anti-depressants. When I stopped taking it, I also stopped taking my anti-depressants, and I was fine. Completely mentally sane. Then, I started taking Yaz and started experiencing moodiness, and months later, panic attacks. I have stopped the Yaz and I hope I won't have anymore problems. I suggest just using condoms. It might not be as effective, but I would rather use them than go mental taking Yaz or any other pill for that matter. |

| Im starting my third month today and so far it seems to be ok. I haven't really seen too much changes except the decrease in my sex drive. My complexion hasn't really changed, my mood hasn't really changed, nor my cramps. I have noticed though that my bleeding is not as heavy as before. We shall se for this upcoming month. |

| I'm only into my third week of using Yaz and it's making me feel mental. I'm bloated, crampy and I'm spotting. And I was almost overwhelmed yesterday at work with feeling depressed and just wanted to cry. I thought maybe I was just being a bit paranoid, but after reading through this I know there is something wrong with this pill |

I am on my second pack of YAZ and I have no major complaints. My mood is better, slight depression has gone away, my skin is looking clearer plus my period was ALOT lighter!! It's great. The only problem I have found is that I have had a pretty bad yeast infection(side effect) which I never had had before starting YAZ. Has anyone else experienced a vaginal infection while taking the pill, and if so, did the OTC meds work?
I think alot of women are having problems with YAZ becuase they are taking it like it is just another BC. Yaz should be used for women that have been diagnosed with PMDD. It sounds like the pill is having adverse effects on women that only experience PMS. On the YAZ website it says that this pill should not be used to treat symptoms of PMS, so check it out and talk to your doctor. |

| i've been studying these boards for a few days looking up stuff about yaz because i just got a new box and wanted to know if it was all the commercial said it would be. so far i've seen a list of atrocious horror stories and permanent disability stories to downright nothing's happening to me so i'm fine stories. i tried last year to take one pill of orth tri lo and it gave me chest pains. when i went tothe doctor he was ignorant of me and had no urgency and said it was probably stress...i asked him if the arm tingling was also a part of the stress even though i was not stressing about anything so i wanted to try and find something else....also because ive started to have anemic episodes with my periods....so i guess it's either death by some birth control pill or death by blood loss....is there a perfect pill that won't build up to a stroke or brain clot out there???? |

Everyone reacts differently to different pills. I have been on YAZ now for 3 full months, starting my 4th month. My sex drive is still low, but I've lost 7 lbs. I don't get the cravings before my period or the bloating that I used to get. My PMS lasts only the day before...sometimes two rather than an entire week before my period. My period comes like clockwork and only lasts a couple of days. It's also very light and I have little cramping but nothing like when I was off the pill for awhile.
I am taking this pill only to regulate my periods, regulate my mood, and that is it. My fiance is fixed, so I can't get pregnant. I am going to be 34 next week and I admit, I do miss my sex drive (not as much as my fiance) but it's allowed us to focus on more important things in our lives too....intimacy to name one. Once we have sex, everything works like normal with the exception of a little more dryness than when I wasn't on YAZ. I had no problems with natural lubrication and now I do have to use lubrication. It's worth it to me though to be sane again. I also sleep really well at night since I've been on YAZ.
It's not for everyone....I agree with what someone else said...I think its only for people who suffer from PMDD.

I'm currently on my 5th month on Yaz. It's been great for regulating my periods, decreasing cramping, and all that jazz. It's great. However, there's just one little problem there.
I seriously feel like I'm losing my mind right now. This is one of the worst bouts of depression I've ever had in my whole life. However, I'm not sure if I can really blame it on the pills or not. In the last six months, I've had two of my friends pass away, which is pretty upsetting considering I'm only 20 years old. On top of that, my boyfriend cheated on me three months ago and we had a horrible, messy breakup that I'm still trying to sort out.
Also, I have a history of depression, going back to when I was twelve years old. So it's not like I'm suddenly depressed when I never have been before.
My parents really think it's from the Yaz, and want me to stop taking it immediately. I know it could possibly be from that, but with everything else going on in my life, how do I know that I'm not just depressed from my problems? Should I stop taking Yaz and go back to my awful, painful periods, just in case it's the cause of my depression? Or should I go on taking it, and keep going to counseling like I have been, and see if I can work it out?
Any and all feedback is welcome. |
