I have been taking YAZ for 7 months and just stopped this month (July). When I started in December of last year I was 120 pounds now I am up to 132 pounds. I usually lose weight in the summer but not on this pill. I have had some of the worst mood swings that my boyfriend and I refer to them as "episodes" as if I am crazy. Talk about crying, I can't stop once I get going. Just an overall depressed feeling. Also my sex drive does not exist. I have been off for a about three weeks now and my weight has leveled off (no weight loss). I have not had an episode or cried. I hope to improve more with time. Overall, I did not have a good experience on YAZ. But, also know that every drug effects everyone differently. Good luck and be aware of what your body is telling you.

i just started yaz about two weeks ago, and it's my first time using birth contol. i'm twenty, and i started on the pill because it was going to help me with the intense cramps that i was getting while i was ovulating. instead, for the past two weeks i have had intense cramps every morning. thank god that i'm on a break from school and i quit my day job, because all i can do during the mornings is lay with the heating pad. i haven't noticed any weight gain, but my skin has gotten worse, which stinks because i have bad skin already and i was hoping that my skin would get better. it's hard for me to go to bed, and even more than that, fall asleep, but part of that has to do with the cramps waking me up in the middle of the night. i am feeling more irratible, but i'm not sure if i'm just in a pissy mood or if it's the pills. the cramping, however, has got me at my wits end. before i started birth control i thought it couldn't be that much worse, but now that i'm on it i realize-yes it can. should i call the gyn? or should i wait it out until i see her in a couple months?

I've been on Yaz for about 1.5 years and only recently became aware of how moody, and not myself I've become. I wasn't on BC before that and was only moody sometimes. I went on it to help with my periods which could be bad. It differed from month to month. I don't know how I didn't see the changes. I'm going to stop taking Yaz and see what happens..I don't like thinking I'm losing my mind. I never used to feel like this until I started taking BC..I'm not even sure I'll go back on any kind of BC except for using condoms.

I've done some digging and I'm glad that I've found that I'm not the only one who has had some of the same problems I've had. Although I enjoyed not having cramps, and practically not having a period...this pill is part of why my relationship is currently in shambles.

I'm not going to not recommend Yaz to someone...try it..it might be right for you...but it wasn't right for me.

So I was on Yasmin for nearly two years while in college, but started having mood problems. A doctor told me that Yaz is similar to Yasmin but contains a lower hormone dosage. Having been on it for about 3-4 months now, I really feel insane. I constantly obsess over every physiological sympotom change in my body, thinking it is some terminal illness and seeing every doctor known to man about it. I know how insane I sound, but I'm constantly asking people if I feel warm, if my lymph nodes are swollen, if something feels like a lump to them, and I know that they think that I'm absolutely nuts. I've always been in tune with my health, but this is just ridiculous. I'm a full-blown hypochondriac, constantly worrying about whether or not I'm sick, unable to sleep or concentrate. It's become a real nightmare. I know that everyone seems to have experienced "anxiety" as a side effect, but what about this more specific type of anxiety: Hypochondria?

I can't believe I'm reading this, I feel like I wrote it down to the last letter. This is me! I started Yaz in May 2008 (on my fifth pack now), and have started to suffer severe anxiety and panic attacks, which I've never had before. It makes me nauseous, sweat, unable to funtion because I'm too busy focusing on my latest terminal illness and how long I have left to live. I'm so convinced I have something. And the next day it completely changes to a different illness. I feel so sorry for my husband and kids. I had to be put on an anti depressant and another med ("rescue") to take when I feel an attack coming on. I've asked everyone to feel my lymph nodes. I'm going to finish my last pills in this pack and be done with it. I can't live like this anymore. I want my life back.

Oh, by the way, I have birthmark like spot (light tan) that showed up on my upper thigh near the crease. Convinced it's melanoma, but it wasn't there one week, then it was. Maybe a pigment change from too much estrogen?

Sad

Thank you ladies for your honest posts-- negative and positive. I got engaged in June. I'm a virgin and I have never been on birth control before. I started taking Yaz in August 08. I didn't have any side effects the first month, so I though I was ok. I haven't had much of a problem with tenderness in the breast or spotting, either.

Then recently, I've been having bouts of anxiety, mood swings, second guessing myself and constantly changing the date of our wedding--even calling it off a few times. Last night was the worse, as I could stop crying and having feelings of despair. I even started seeing a therapist because I felt something was not right. My fiance has been through so many changes with me and has been patient, but it is taking a strain on our relationship.

I didn't think to attribute these feelings to the pill because I went on their site and read about it before deciding to try it. I decided to pinpoint when I started feeling this way and realize that these feelings came about right around the time I started Yaz. I called my doctor's office and am switching to something else. Hopefully, I'll fee better soon and my relationship with my sweetheart is too terribly scathed.

Thanks, again, ladies for your posts because I truly thought that I was crazy.
