| I have to take birth control for my Endometriosis. I've been on about every pill out there including Yasmin. So far I've had great results with Yaz but I have been getting leg cramps. I'm not sure I like the leg cramps but overall this pill has been one of the best I've taken. We must remember all meds have serious side effects and can cause problems. Like everyone else the horror stories do scare me but what else can those of us that need the pill do? Does anyone know? |

Most people who are having cramping hear about it being potassium but it is more commonly Magnesium. It especially should not be potassium on Yaz because it has the effect of a diuretic called "spironolactone" which causes you to lose water while retaining K (works by inhibiting the action of aldosterone on the Na/K pump in the kidney).

NOOO ShaeDreams! Actually Yaz increase potassium... which can be bad if you are taking potassium supplements PLUS i'm sure there is potassium in whatever you eat too!! Having too much potassium in your body can lead to irregular heart beats and even cardiac arrest!!! I'd be careful with all that!!! Potassium is veryyy important to have in your diet, but too much of it (or anything) can be horrible to your health![/u] | |

I've read many different things about YAZ. If you have a lot of emotional problems when you are on your period, then apparently it can settle that, however, if you do not then it could cause them.
I was on Alesse, it made me go crazy. Horrible depression, etc. I stopped that as of today. Whatever you do don't take that sh!t.! |

|
|
I'm 24 and have been on BC since age 16. My doctor prescribed YAZ b/c I had severe PMS - actually PMDD (which is a disorder characterized by PMS symptoms, but much more severe, as in making irrational decisions - questioning my major in college, breaking up w/ my boyfriend of 3.5 years, crying for hours for no good reason, etc...just feeling nutso, not to mention suddenly, out of nowhere, being verrrry angry and irritable - it was like I could feel my blood pressure rising over nothing). So, my dr. prescribed YAZ b/c it is designed to treat the PMDD.
This is only the end of my second pack, so I can't say much. The first month was BAD. But, I figured it was a transition period b/w my old pill and YAZ. This month has been fine, emotionally.
Reading about all these horror stories - strokes, severe mood swings, etc. has be scared to death. But, I wonder, for those of you who had severe problems w/ YAZ, were you diagnosed w/ PMDD first? I wonder if it would have adverse side effects in those who didn't suffer from PMDD before getting on YAZ.
Just curious. Any other positive postings about YAZ? I'm hoping that if I don't have these scary side effects yet, that I won't begin to in the future. Any info. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

| OH, i forgot to mention, I have not had leg cramps, but I have noticed a wierd sensation in my legs, it's like an urge to stretch the muscle and point my toes out which is somehow relieving. It's not a cramp, just an overwhelming urge to stretch and flex my leg muscles. I know this must sound nuts. Should this concern me? Does anyone else have this problem? I didn't notice it until YAZ. The sensation itself does not bother me, but I wonder what causes it, and if that is something to be worried about, you know? Thanks! |

| OMG - All of those things happened to me! HORRID PANICK ATTACKS bothered me the most. Everything from breast pain to nausea to mood swings to extreme fatigue. I felt horrible on this pill... but I kept making myself take it thinking it wasn't the pills or it would get better.. NO it only got worse. Then I stopped taking it and I'm fine now. No more symptoms at all. This is as I called it "The Death Pill"!!! How can I stress it enough, this is the most misleading pill ever made. It's just a matter of time, I guarentee it will be off the market. Words cannot describe the terror for no reason out of nowhere. Just stop taking it |

| I forgot to mention the tremendous hairloss. Which is the reason I googled and found this board in the first place. |

| I only have been taking Yaz for a little over a week, and the headaches are horrendous!!! not to mention the nausea!!! I am definitly stopping taking them, I would rather deal with the mental breakdown before my periods than having deal with the headaches and nausea 24/7!! |
