Seven years ago, I started to have hard stools or difficulty passing stools and doctors had diagnosed me irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with constipation. My doctor recommended 6 mg of Zelnorm twice daily orally before meals but he never told me for how long is a therapy. Can anybody tell me something about Zelnorm dosage?

Zelnorm is a selective serotonin receptor agonist intended for treatment of IBS. It has to be taken on an empty stomach, shortly before you eat a meal. The recommended orally dosage of Zelnorm is 6 mg taken twice daily for 4 to 6 weeks. If you do not react on therapy, it can be given for another 4 to 6 weeks.
