Hello! I have been using Azulfidin for three weeks as a part of my treatment of ulcerative colitis, prescribed by my doctor, of course. A week ago I started to feel strange dizziness and nausea, but I thought that these were only the expected side effects. This morning I discovered I am pregnant. I have no idea how this medicine will affect my baby.

Hello! Congratulations, this must be really good news for you and your family. Don’t worry, it has been shown that there was no increased risk for women who have been treated with Azulfidin (Sulfasalazine) in compare to other women who have not been taken this medicine. Even women who have been given higher doses had no problems during their pregnancy and their babies didn’t have any problems. Since you have just discovered that you are pregnant you have to visit your doctor and he will decide what to do.
