achy lower abdomen

I’ve been having this achy feeling in my lower abdomen. First I suspected that I am pregnant, so I went to see a gynecologist. He did some exams and told me that I am having uterine fibroids. He told me that they are small but their growth is unpredictable. He couldn’t tell me what caused them. Please is there anyone who can tell me what possible causes of uterine fibriods are? Thank you!

Well, he couldn’t tell you because the causes of uterine fibroids are not known. Lot of women experience symptoms like menstrual cramps or an achy or heavy feeling associated with the need to urinate frequently. There are suspects that development of uterine fibroids is inherited or linked to estrogen level. They should be surgically removed if they are growing rapidly or causing abnormally bleeding.
