My cousin has kidney disease; he is in hospital and on dialysis. I am interested in indications for using actrel when patient is on dialysis. Is it used in hormone deficiency? I need to be better informed about actrel. Thanks.
Actrel and Acthar are brand names for adrenocorticotropic hormone. These drugs are used in diagnostic procedures, in determination of glucocorticoid deficiency. Existence of kidney disease is precaution for using glucocorticoids. These hormones may cause edema, hypertension and heart failure. But actrel is not replacement therapy in hormone deficiency.
