Adderall is a prescription drug, used to treat ADD or ADHD. It works mainly on dopamine, brain neurotransmitter. This drug is a stimulant, helping patients to maintain attention for a longer duration. This way, patients are able to study or work more effectively, without experiencing medication’s speed-like effects. Some people use this medicine with alcohol, which delay sleep or passing drunken feelings. It is dangerous to have medicine like this without prescription, and illegal, off course. As any other medicine, Adderall has some side effects, long and short-term psychological effects. Some of these are paranoia, psychotic episodes, anxiety and severe depression. Especial chronic physical effects from long-term use are convulsions, irregular heartbeats, fever, malnutrition and tremors. Addiction could be permanent alterations caused by this drug. It has the potential to alter gene expression in the brain, which might lead to long-lasting changes in nerve cell structure and brain function.
