Hi! I need some information about adrenal insufficiency. I’ve just heard that one of my best friends had this disorder. I don’t know too much about it but I heard a lot of different things. As I can remember people who suffer from adrenal insufficiency need to use steroids. Am I right?
Yes. Adrenal insufficiency is a life-threatening condition and it causes decreased production of two important hormones cortisol and aldosterone. People with this condition will need to take a synthetic steroid for the rest of their lives. They usually use glucocorticoid, adrenal genital corticoids and mineralocorticoid. If you don’t treat adrenal insufficiency well, you may have serious consequences.
