I have a tumor, and I my doctor decided to operate me, but he said to me that he has to reduce adrenaline production in my body. They said that I got pheochromocytoma (adrenalin overproduction). I have terrible headaches, I sweat a lot, and my blood pressure is really high. It seems that my tumor is very active. I want to end with this once for all. Why do they need to reduce adrenalin overproduction?

Well your results probably showed high levels of adrenalin in urine or the results of scans probably showed adrenalin overproduction. The aim of operation is to surgically remove the tumor. So it is essential first to block the action on the excess adrenaline before the operation, because tumor releases massive amount of hormone in the crisis, and that will bring your blood pressure up and than there is a danger of a heart attack. Endocrinologist will arrange for you to have action of adrenalin blocked by a special drug. The drug is supposed to reduce your blood pressure and in that way reduce the risk of operation.
