Hi, my doctor told me that I might need to have my right leg amputated. I am so afraid of loosing my extremities, I can’t imagine my life with one leg. Did any of you experience this?

Hi, I know how loosing of extremities looks like. Two years ago, I found out that I had a blockage of the arteries supplying my leg. It wasn’t treated, and it became really bad. It hurt a lot when I walked, especially the foot. I developed some black areas around my toes, and it looked really bad. Three doctors have examined me, and they all agreed that it had to be amputated. Loosing lower extremities is a great shock, and you need time to get used to it. It doesn’t mean that you will lost the whole leg, it all depends on how poor the blood supply is. Many people become depressed and unsocial after losing their lower extremities, and that’s why you should except all support you can get from your family and friends.
