I have rheumatoid arthritis. I take all the meds my rheumatologist prescribes: methotrexate, enbril, and prednisone.. but sometimes the pain is too much. I had occasion to see a podiatrist and he started prescribing percocet for me. My primary care does not believe in narcotic treatment for the pain nor does my rheumatologist. I kept seeing the podiatrist, he had me on the fentanyl patch and 3 5/325 percocets a day. He has abruptly stopped prescribing them, i have three percocets and one patch left. I have been slowly weaning off the percs, have taken just one or two a day for a week and the patch i have on now is 4 days old. Will i have significant withdrawal if i just stop? I am afraid to tell my doctors what i have been doing, afraid they will just abandon me like the podiatrist did. I am severely depressed, almost suicidal... i dont know where to turn, am pretty isolated.. afraid to talk to my children ... how bad will the withdrawal be and how long will it last? i have other significant health issues, too.
