I am worried about my son. He just turned 21 and he started drinking. He goes out every weekend with his friends and drink. The problem is that he has epilepsy; I don’t think he should use alcohol at all, but he assures me that it is just a glass of beer. I don’t what to argue with him, but it’s killing me.
One or two drinks cause no meaningful changes in the blood levels of antiepileptic drugs or in seizure control. The problem with one or two drinks for young’s whether or not they have epilepsy, is that their understanding of alcohol and their ability to limit its intake is often inadequate. It one becomes three or four, intoxication clouds judgment, and serious problems can follow. Therefore, it is a good idea for young people, especially those with epilepsy, to avoid alcohol or to use it only under adult supervision. It can be dangerous.
