allergy zyrtec medicine for dogs

Does anyone know what can happen to dog if he is given allergy zyrtec medicine ??Need to know I gave 1 pill nad this aftenoon he is jus tmoving his head back and forth ???
NEED TO KNOW

Just went to the vet and was told that children's benedryl was a good choice for allergy symptoms. It comes in a large pill size so is easy to split in half for a smaller dog. It workes.
