My boyfriend started to lose his hair. There are round bold patches on his head. He went to see a doctor and he told him that he has Alopecia areata. Please, tell me what causes this condition and how can he treat this? I am very worried about him. I’ll appreciate any help.

I have Alopecia areata. In my case is inherited, Alopecia areata runs in my family. I know that reason it can be some immune problem, but I don’t think that anyone knows for sure. Cortisone injections are recommended treatment as well as cortisone creams. However, I know that some people do not respond on any treatment.
