i was just wondering if antibiotics cancel out contraceptives, cause i was told after my abortion to go straight onto the contraceptive patch. but i was on antibiotics given to me after my abortion, but ive been told that antibiotics cancel out contraceptives?
is this true? |

Heres the deal...
Antibiotics do not 'Cancel out' birth control, but SOME types will reduce the effectiveness of birth control.
Here is what happens.. Both BC pills and antibiotics go through your LIVER, antibiotics speed up the way your liver processes hormonal BC.
Basically what happens is that your liver speeds up the metabolism of your BC, causing less of the hormones to be in your system.
With Nuva ring and the patch, it is said to be less of a concern. |
