I heard about using NSAIDs in treatment of cancer. Its antineoplastic mechanisam is connected to cyclooxigenase effects. I need more information in this theme. Is cyclooxigenase new anticancer drug? It is very important for me to get more information. Thanks.
Cyclooxigenase is an enzyme, prostaglandine H synthase, which is inhibited by non-steroid antiinflamatory drugs. There are some reports that provide that acetyl salicylic acid and NSAIDs inhibit colon carcinogenesis. Some studies showed that the level of cyclooxygenase is augmented in colon cancer. NSAIDs have antineoplastic effect that is in relation with cyclooxigenase inhibition.
