| I am a thirty-nine year old woman who started taking Yaz a few weeks ago. I thought I was crazy at first that I could be having so many problems so quickly. I strarted taking the pills on the first day of my period and am still bleeding. I am moody and ill all the time, extremely tired, and my legs are aching constantly. So much for helping my symptoms! I am worse than ever! |

| This is my second month on Yaz and so far so good for me. Yes, I do have pregnancy symtoms like being tierd and have had sore breasts, but not all the time. Only right before my period, which is normal. I have not had a migraine for two months which is fabulous and my sex drive is better now than the last three years on various other pills/shots. It certainly isnt for everyone, but my hormones were horrible before using this. I dont feel as mean and hateful all the time anymore. Not sure how this will work long term, but it is OK for now. I have had a shift in weight where now my stomach looks bigger, but I havent gained any weight. So far this is the only weird thing I have noticed, but dont necessarily know if it is related ot the pill. |

| I am 27 and began YAZ Aug. of 2006 and continued using it for a year. I cannot tell you how comforting it is to read these posts...Honestly, I thought they were a by-product of marriage! (How miserable!) I experienced fatigue, migrane headaches once a month, extreme moodiness~ I would get angry so easily which is not me!, I was also very sensitive to temperature...I felt as though my blood was boiling (and not when I was angry). Since Sept. 2007, when I stopped using YAZ, I began to feel more like my old self...my relationship with my husband is flourishing! I was prompted to get off the medicine at the suggestion of my doctor. My LIVER enzymes were abnormal and my ANA was and is still very abnormally high. Please pray for these to go back to normal...has anyone else had issues with their liver or ANA (measures inflammation)? I had a PERFECT bill of health before taking birth control...from here on out, it's natural family planning for us! |

I'm on my third month now of YAZ- - - the only positive thing about YAZ is I went from having my period for a near week and BAD PMS/Cramps to having it barely 1-2 days with NO pms and little bledding...BUT - I've noticed for the past 3 months, I am so TIRED. It's not even funny. I could get 8 hours sleep and 3-4 hours after I wake up, I am fighting back falling asleep. I am so tired and fatigued - I am barely dragging my butt all day at work. I can't even express enough how tired i am . Its scary. In addition, I've been getting BAD headaches just about every single day. I'm more than Moody as well.
I think I'd rather have a 7 day period and bad cramps than every single day of my life be so tired that I can't funtion properly. And ready to bite someones head off. After I finish my last pack here I am done. Wear a condom, get on proactive for acne, but get off YAZ! The side effects are crazy, well, atleast for me! |

Hi,
I have been taking yaz for almost 3 yrs. I decided on yaz because i had pmdd and horrible cramps. The first 3 months were hell when it came to head aches and feeling very nauseous.
After the 3 months the head ached went away and I fell in love with yaz because I had NO PMS and NO CRAMPS.
Everything had been great until last month. I started feelng really tired and now this month the same but i also got a VERY hevy period full of huge blood clots and its been 2 weeks now. No pain... just the annoying period still going one. next sunday will be 3 weeks and i dont see it stopping.
I dont know if i should just not take it anymore or what to do.
Anyone any suggenstions?
My doctor just said to keep taking it and NO i did not have a miscarriage... sure looked like i did. My period was so heavy had to use a overnight pad and had to change it every 2 to 3 hrs... |

I'm really glad I found this site. My gut feeling has been telling me to stop taking Yaz, but I don't want to get pregnant again. Before Yaz I was on the shot....that was great for awhile, because I didn't have a period from after giving birth to my daughter until I stopped the shot which was 2 years. I stopped taking it because my bones felt week and I was gaining weight at a ridiculous rate yet my habits hadn't changed. It took awhile for it to get out of my system, but when it did I started dropping weight and was back to my pre-baby body, again without changing anything!! People kept commenting asking if I was eating. LOL even my doctor! I told them no, I stopped taking the shot despite what you recommended and I was right! (They told me it wasn't the shot making me gain weight)
OK, so again...I don't want to get pregnant. But here I am about a year later after stopping the shot. I'm not sure how long I've been taking yaz. When I first started taking it I broke out and after about a month I felt like I was gaining weight again. Let's say I've been on it for roughly 6 months.
At first I've wanted to stop taking it because I keep gaining weight and I can't figure out why. I am a pretty healthy eater and my 2 year old daughter keeps me very active. But after reading this website I've found the answer to a lot of other issues I couldn't explain!! I kept analyzing and figuring it was this or that.
I too have been feeling ridiculously tired! I did a search because this pill is making me feel like I'm pregnant! And I've been pregnant before and I know the symptoms, but pregnancy is pretty impossible for me. Between being on the pill and condoms. Plus I feel like this every month to the point I'm wasting money on stupid tests!
Not only do I feel pregnant and I've gained 10lbs! Everyone keeps saying 10lbs isn't a big deal, but I"m sorry when you weigh 110 and you put on 10lbs it feels like a huge deal! Plus I'm starting to not fit into clothes same thing that happened with the shot. It's gross! To the point I went on some crazy diet pills.
I feel moody, I have anxiety, I've been seeing this really great guy and I don't understand why I am so COLD it's like I have NO feelings! I get depressed and I can't understand why. I have a great job, family, friends, wonderful daughter. I have anxiety attacks where I am afraid to go into my house and feel like someone is going to hurt me! I have nightmares.
The fact I've been beyond exhausted is what's making me realize something is wrong. I could sleep 12 hours uninterrupted and feel like I don't want to get up! This affects me when I'm with my daughter. When typically I'm very energetic and active. I feel like I can't even work out! I've had night sweats..and when I try to exercise I feel like I can't breathe and I'm sweating beyond what is normal. The list goes on and on.......
Before I wanted to get off just because of my gaining weight. But I said it's better to gain weight for this than to become pregnant. Now after reading all these posts I realize I need to get off for a lot more serious reasons!! I hate taking medication or pills.....I too almost went on anti depressents! Thank god I came across this. I'm going to stop taking it once I'm finished with my white pills (this weekend) and get my period.
The only positive I had with yaz was it made me break out and then made my pores smaller and skin nicer. I'll find something else that can do that! Maybe extra vitamin e? And the fact my period was regulated and my cramps were very mild. I'll take midol for that and deal. I'll have to be extra careful in regards to pregnancy.
Or are there any other bc that anyone can recommend? I have a feeling they are all the same because of the hormones. I'm looking forward to dropping the pounds I've gained...I know it will take months. Figures this happens during summer. Most of all LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING MY OLD HAPPY ENERGETIC NON MOODY LOVING SELF BACK! I've been a b****** and cold hearted. |

Posted: 06/26/08 - 13:05 Post subject: Severe depression, mood swings and weight gain from Yaz |

|
| I am 29 yrs old and went on birth control pills recently after I stopped breast feeding my daughter... My doctor prescribed yaz and gave me 3 months samples... I started experiencing severe moodiness and irritability and uncontrolled anger. With a 1yr old to challenge me all the time I needed patience more than ever but had completely lost it. I did experience light period on the first month. After second month I felt more and more depressed and frustrated which kept getting worse and my second month period was horrible with aches and pains and heavy flow. I was on my third month and had to finally quit taking it as my mood was getting miserable by the day. I hate Yaz and will never go back to it. |

| I started taking Yaz 3 weeks ago for acne. I stopped taking it yesterday because I felt like I was losing my mind and not myself at all. My husband was the one who noticed that I have been acting differently since I began taking it. I would strongly discourage anyone from using Yaz. I have been so exhausted that I feel like a zombie and haven't been able to focus on anything. When I have been driving I am so out of it that I realize I am not really paying attention. I have had the worst mood swings from severe depression and crying over nothing to snapping at people from irratibility. My breasts have also been extremely sore and I developed a lump after taking it for 8 days that I just found out was luckily benign but very painful nonetheless. I have been getting dizzy and have been craving foods like cookies and chocolate (which I never eat). I have an IUD and will stick with that for birth control and as for the acne, I'll be making a trip to the dermatologist. |

It is extremely important to remember that EVERYONE is different...which means everyone reacts to medications and oral contraceptives differently.
I was on OTL for years. I started getting angry and I had my period for 3 weeks out of the month so I switched to Yaz. I've only been on it for about 5 days and I feel pretty good. Last night I was sweaty and clammy and queezy...but today I am fine. I think it's just a hormone adjustment.
I do have PPMD and I think this pill is recommended for those of us who have this.
Good luck to everyone. I hope I have a positive experience to share soon. |

| I've been on Yaz for 6 months, first month I felt horrible but Doc said side effects are gone in 3mo. For the first 3 months my period was great, very little cramps, my breast grew a cup size, lost weight and my skin never looked better. BUT, I have had 2 periods a month AND spotting, awful fatigue (sleeping 9+hrs/day and still tired), blurry vision, bloating, vaginal pain, sex drive out the window, headaches and just an overwhelming need to fight with EVERYONE!! I absolutely dislike cursing, but I now feel like I have developed a bad case of turrets and very scary road rage. I've been pregnant before and know what it's like, every month I feel pregnant. At first my appetite was low and now I want to eat everything I see. I started this pill at 115lbs (I'm 5'7), healthy-all-organic-jog 5miles/day-happy-go-lucky-horny-gal. Now, will eat a gallon of ice cream in one sitting, haven't worked out in 4months, couch potato, hate everyone and don't want sex. SO WHY AM I ON THIS TOXIC DRUG?!!! Good question, I'm buying the LadyComp and quitting these poisonous drugs. LadyComp is just as effective as the pill but leaves your hormones alone. DRUG FREE IS THE WAY TO BE!! |
