I have been on Yaz for just one month now, and I absolutely love it. I went on birth control to help with the horrible cramps I have been getting since the beginning of high school (I'm a senior). I started my period after I took my last inactive pill, and it stopped the night after. I had minimal cramping, which is a huge difference from the terrible cramps I used to get that were accompanied by dizziness and vomiting.

As for side effects, I haven't had many. I had mild nausea a couple weeks into my first pack, but it wasn't too bad. I know that people react differently to different levels of hormones, but I would recommend Yaz to anyone who is trying to alleviate severe menstrual cramping. It has helped me so much Laughing

I am a 45 yr old woman recently diagnosed with adenomyosis and PMDD. I was prescribed Yaz and am on week 3 of my first pack.

Hopefully my mood swings will even out some but the big thing bothering me is the breast tenderness.

I have read many very positive Yaz posts on other forums and am hoping it will help with the craziness and extreme pain associated with my periods.

Has anyone had side effects intially but that stabilized after a time on Yaz?

Thanks!

I went to NC to be with my son when he got off the plane from Iraq. I knew my period would be coming about the time I was there and in no uncertain terms did I want to have a period there. I would have been in bed for 2 days or more. At my annual check up I asked my doc to put me on something to help not have a period. He put me on Yaz. I also was concerned with weight gain because I had worked so hard to lose 50 pounds. He said Yaz usually helps women lose weight. So I went on it and it kept me from having a period. Best thing ever for me. While I was in NC I thought that my blood sugar had crashed. I had nausea, sweating, feelings that I would pass out. I passed it off as low blood sugar. Now that I am back home I am having muscle cramps, extreme fatigue, nausea (with weight loss, which is okay) and heart palpatations. I sing in front of people all the time and yesterday I sang for Easter service and when I got done my pulse was way over 120. My chest felt like someone was standing on it and I could hardley catch my breath. I will go off the Yaz now. I don't have time to feel this way.

I used yaz for a month and I also started on the first day of my period and it got light but continued on until I stopped takin the pill and my light long period went on to a raging waterfall for about 7 days then stopped. im in the miliary so I work out everyday I became weak and tired for no reason. I couldnt handle running normal distances that I could run without a problem before the pill. I lost my appetite barely eating one meal a day and I lost about 5 pds in 2 wks but I was weak so it wasnt worth it. The pill states that it is supposed to clear up acne it made me break out. But the acne wasnt even normal. The pill is just weird thats all I have to say Confused

After researching everything else....I decided to check on results of YAZ. Wowzer....your stories explain me. I am 35 and thought I was losing my mind. I am used to having all the patience in the world....Now I feel like I have none. I cry if someone looks at me funny. I have just been out of wack for a while. Thought my depression was just getting worse and needed a different med. I guess I will stop taking YAZ and hope for the best.

I have been on yaz for 3 months now and at first i loved it, then i started noticing i needed a nap everyday, I was so moody my kids even felt it and started acting out. Then i noticed my periods were getting heavier and longer and I started getting cramps which I have never had, with or without being on the pill. Then I noticed I was having a hard time seeing the street signs when i was driving. Now i never gained weight, but i have been doing weight watchers and was loosing 2lbs a week until i started on yaz, in the last 3 months i have lost 2 lbs but i have also added an hour of cardio everyday and never eat out of my points allowance. I went back to my old pills this week since i was just about to start a new pack when i realized all this, So i hope i don't gain during the next few months of being off yaz. So my new weight watchers goal is simply not to gain, and any loss will be total bliss. I do not recommend this pill to anybody, and if you are sensitive to pills ask your doctor about Low Ovral it is the only pill i have been able to take and not be a mess and not gain to much weight maybe 10lbs over the first 3 months, but that was easy to get back off.

I was on yaz for 6 months before I realized that all my "new" bad side effects were being caused by it.

I had been dx with anxiety last month, depression, I gained 10lbs on it, severe fatigue, extreme anger, mood swings. You name it. I was tested for thyroid and every other hormone test out there before realizing it was this horrible drug.

My hair was falling out like crazy, anxiety attacks hourly. I couldn't sleep at night. Had nightmares all the time. Couldn't lose the 10lbs I gained in the first 2 months. I had tremors as well.

Since I stopped taking it just 3 weeks ago I have already noticed improvement and am feeling more like my old self again.

BTW, my testosterone was still normal while taking the pill, so it was not a hormonal imbalance for me. My face would break out and I have perfectly clear skin, I'm 33 and well beyond the pimple days of adolescence.

I had been on numerous pills before. I was on aleese before, ortho lo, ortho and a few others, but they all gave me migraines. Only yaz gave me all the listed symptoms above and more.

I've decided I am better off off the pill period. I think I can handle other means of birth control with my hubby. As well as dealing with irregular periods (became irregular just after my 30th bday, lucky me).

Luckily for me, I realized it before I went bald or ended up in the hospital (trying to make light of the situ here). I am much much better now, no more tremors, I can sleep now, I've lost 3lbs already, I am no longer fatigued and I go back in 2 months for resting again to see how I'm doing. BTW, no more headaches or migraines either. My appetite has gone back to normal too. No more extreme thirst.

I'm telling you, I had so many symptoms I thought I was going crazy. And my mood swings were the worst. It affected my relationship[ with my husband and children.

My T3 tests were even coming back high, thus my dr's thinking I was hyperthyroidism. Luckily I am not.

Think long and hard before going on any birth control.
