I've been on YAZ for a full year and have experienced most of the symptoms mentioned in this chain-- severe fatigue to the point of not physically being able to get out of bed; severe headaches/migraines that I get several days each week, seemingly for no reason; blurred vision; severely dry eyes; heart palpatations (sometimes it feels like my heart is literally inside my throat); issues with slurred speech (for no reason it seems) and also motor function problems (I seem to drop everything) and muscle spasms. I literally feel bad most of the time. I, too, had no idea that all of this could be a result of the YAZ. When I pinpoint the first memory of each of these symptoms, they each go back to about 2-3 months after beginning YAZ. Some didn't start until 6 months into it, but none of it was happening before. With that being said, the YAZ doesn't help with my bloating at all. .. it helps a bit with the cramping but my cramps have been getting consistently worse over the last few months. It does help w/ shortening my periods. I, too, recently went to my doctor and she told me there was no way the YAZ could be causing this. I disagree and have taken myself off of it (a few days and counting). The most alarming symptom that I've had is substantial hair loss. I'm lucky to have a thick head of hair so people who see me don't realize it (unless i lift my hair up and show them how much it has thinned out. It's incredibly visible - i can't even pull my hair back into a ponytail any more b/c it looks so bad). It's been about 6 months since things REALLY got bad and I have just chocked it all up to stress and my crazy work schedule/ life. After talking to two colleagues who had horrible experiences w/ Yasmin (lboth ost half their heads of hair and when they stopped taking it the hair filled back in), I decided that the YAZ could be the problem. After all, it is the same brand and even thoug hit is a lower dosage, I find this very very suspicious. Has anyone else noticed hair loss while taking YAZ?

I had been on YAZ for about a year and a couple months. I was put on YAZ for PMDD after I had voluntarily taken myself off Otho Novum 777, which I had been on for 15 yrs. My experience with YAZ hasn't been good. I didn't realize that YAZ could cause so many side effects until my doc told me to try getting off of it to see if thats what was causing symptoms. I was having severe headaches daily, vision problems, muscle cramps and soreness, a weird skin rash on my arms and legs, weight gain, vaginal irritation after sex and no period in atleast a year and I'm not pregnant. Overall, just felt like crap everyday!!! I have been off for about 6 days now and no headaches and I've already dropped 2 lbs. Yaz really helps with the emotional symptoms of PMDD, however to me it's not worth feeling like crap everyday of my life. I'm 32 yo and married, but never had kids so I'm going to try not being on the pill for now. The risks of stoke and blood clots increases with age so not worth it to me!!

PostPosted: 03/02/08 - 10:29    Post subject: constipation? Reply with quote

I have been on yaz for a week and I immediately noticed constipation. Im pretty regular and this pill is making it so that I have to use pills or eat a bunch of probiotics to go to the bathroom. I just switched off the nuvaring to Yaz and I am willing to give it three months because I really think it is very important to give yourself three months on any new pill before you go off it.
I was a wreck when I tried Alesse when I was 17 and nearly broke up with my boyfriend and hated all my friends for a couple days out of the the month, and then after 3 months or so, these symptoms went away. when i went on the nuvaring 2 years ago it was the same thing-I was depressed, moody, crying, fighting etc, and those symptoms went away after 3 months. I havent felt any emotional side effects on this pills so far, just the constipation. anyone else?

I know this may not seem like a long time but i was on YAZ for 5 weeks. during this time I had a difficult time getting up and going to class, and I failed 11 out of my 18 credit hours. I had overwhelming angziety. gained 10 lb when i've been at 115 since i was in the 10th grade. On top of it all i am very argumentative. My finance got most of the abuse. Probally the worst thing was my thought to throw myself in front of a car. I did not have any headaches though. and I did not seem to have a period at all. Just some spotting every none and then. But I was not on it long enough to say if it would have leaved out. When i stoped taking it this week everyone noticed a change and I feel 100% petter.

PostPosted: 03/12/08 - 10:27    Post subject: yaz, and its effect it has had on me!! Horrible!!! Reply with quote

I had an IUD for 2 yrs and decided to get it removed because I was getting horrible acne. So upon having it removed I got on Yaz. My husband was going to be getting a vasectomy so I just got three mos. sample from the doc. After a month and a half I quit taking it. I was moody, waking up in the morning and crying at leas tthree times a week. I did not have a period when I had my IUD and when I started using yaz I still have not had a period. To make matters worse my stomach feels like I am three mos pregnant and my breasts are producing milk. It is awful. I have had a blood test to confirm that I am not pregnant. I talked to a nurse and she simply said my body just needs time to get back to normal and so give it 2 more weeks and if no period comes than they wii give me something to make it start. I am also extrememly fatigued!!! Oh yah and I fainted twice while taking Yaz.

So my advice to all women is think twice before taking anything!!!! I will never use a bc ever again!! I think that in the long run you will be doing alot of harm to your body. Use a condom:) Not quite as effective but pregnancy is natural putting all that crap in ur body is not!!!

i read through this the night before i started taking Yaz and im not usually one who experiences side effects, but ive been on yaz about 3 weeks and i swear ive gained 5 pounds, and im breaking out like you wouldnt believe. not to mention i have zero sex drive and i am so tired all the time. i can barely make it through the day.

the reason i went on it was to help relieve my MAJOR pms issues (cramps so bad i couldnt get out of bed because from my middle back to my knees hurt so bad, uncontrollable crying, breaking up with my very sweet and understanding boyfriend EVERY month) paired with 10mg of vicodin, and my back is still having a hard time.

so good luck to us all, i hope we can all find alternatives.

Oh believe me, you are not the only one. I'm going to call my Dr. today to see if she wants me to try it for another month or switch to something else cause I haven't been able to sleep at all this whole month that I've been on it. I didn't fall asleep till 3 in the morning and woke up just before 6. I dont know how much longer I can take not sleeping cause I'm starting to take it out on my bf and I really dont want to loss him cause he's the best thing that has happened to me in a long time. I'm sure if I dont loose him I'm going to drive him up the wall with all my crying for no reason or my getting pissed off over absolutely nothing.
