asymptomatic swollen eyelids

Hello! A month ago I gave birth to a beautiful girl, but when she was born her eyelids were swollen and there was some discharge from her eyes. I have been told that I have had Chlamydia during pregnancy and that it resulted in baby having eye infection. How common is this? I was totally asymptomatic, and didn’t have any idea I had it.

This is truly very strange because all women are usually tested for all infections down there as it can reflect on a baby. Babies do develop eye infection if a mother had Chlamydia and I may say that you were lucky. Some women have ectopic pregnancy, which is life threatening and some babies are even born with pneumonia.
