I know that recognizing the signs and symptoms of asthma is very important part of managing asthma. Since I have got son, and husband’s family is full of asthmatic cousins, I want to know more about it. I have heard that early warning signs or mild symptoms are occurring is helpful. Then treatment and other interventions might begin early. Because of all this, I need to hear more about first symptoms of asthma.

You can expect early warning signs before asthma episodes start. That can help starting early treatment because these clues occur before actual asthma symptoms. I have to say that those signs are unique to each person. Sometimes, early warning symptoms may be the same, similar or entirely different with each episode. Some of them might be recognized only by the individual. Others, early warning symptoms are more likely to be noticed by other persons. Some examples of early symptoms are breathing changes, sneezing, moodiness, headache, runny and stuffy nose, coughing, and chin or throat itches. Also I have to mention feeling tired, dark circles under eyes, trouble with sleeping, poor tolerance for exercise and downward trend in peak flow number. Those are just some of them, but there are more symptoms that you might notice. Wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest indicates that asthma episode is occurring.

I have the same problem. My name is Lilli Wren and I am only 10. I go to Westward Grammar and I am terrified. Last week I was playing football with a couple of boys and suddenly I couldn't breathe and I lay on the grass and tried to scream but I passed out. After I woke up from fainting, I found myself in the libary and everyone was staring at me. It kept happening but all of the other times I didn't faint(luckily!). My school nurse thinks that I have athsma. Please help me, I'm scared. I'm only 10 and I'm really worried because I keep having serious attacks. Help, please.
From Lilli Wren.

I know how you feel. I am 15 and am experienceing almost exactly the same things. Probably the best thing you can do is to go to the doctor about it, after all i thought i was just unfit and ended up in A&E having a serious asthma attack before i found out.
One of the easiest was to determin if you are having an asthma attack is, when you run up the stairs etc and you feel tired, are you having trouble breathing? If so then is it hard to breathe in or out? If out is the answer i would strongly recomend going to a doctor as it if likley that you have asthma.

I've been having a hard time breathing lately. and I have random chest pains and I can't breath. I've gone to 4 different doctors and they all said I'm perfectly healthy. I'm scared cuz I used to be able to play a whole game of soccer without stopping. but a couple months ago I was playing and about 20 mins into the game I couldn't breath and fainted. any clue what it is our what I should do?

I'm 11, and I have athsma. My dad isn't wealthy, so he can't do much about it. But, I wanna do something about it! I wanna start a group that will help kids that have athsma, and are scared about it! I wanna make a difference! I will research about athsma, and find a doctor who will help me help a lot of people with fears of athsma! So if you have athsma, pretty soon you will find help, because I will try to find a way to help others, and I wont stop until I find a way, even if my fingers bleed! Very Happy

What i have really sen reading these is that you can be skinny, fit, and healthy, most of this is from genetics i am 13 and it is hard for me to have asthma because with me having asthma i can't do a lot of things my friends like to do instead i have to sit down and watch them. I know how all of yall feel. Surprised Neutral
