Posted: 06/05/08 - 17:07 Post subject: Taking Aviane since January |
Hey I've been on aviane since the end of January this year. For the most part, I haven't had a problem with the drug. I haven't really experienced PMS since I started it, my breasts get less sore around that time of the month, and I have lighter periods.
Luckily, I don't really experience anger or anxiety, well at least not until this point.
The only issues I have is with becoming more bloated and gaining weight. Granted before I took the drug I was underweight (95lbs.). Since then I've gone up to 107lbs. I'm OK with the weight I am now, I'm just afraid of how this is going to continue to a point which I'm finally fat. |

I have been on Alesse for about 9 months now, when my pharmacist suggested I take Avaine mainly due to the cost difference. I asked whether or not the chemical makeup of the bc is the same and he assured me there was no difference, and the reason why its much cheaper is because they came up with a generic formula. (I asked him this about three times and he seemed pretty confident). Before this I had no problems with Alesse, I’m pretty regular with no mood swings etc. I did find that I was pretty dry in that area though.
When I started Avaine (I’ve been using it for two weeks now) , I had just got the news that my boyfriend was going to leave town for a year, and I was laid off from my job. Although I had moments of sadness and was a little emotional, which is expected with or without bc factors, I found that Avaine isn’t much different from Alesse for me. Although I do notice I’m not as dry in that area.
Switching bc can always be a trying and confusing time, but you have to remember that everyone is different and will react to things in different ways as well. Talk to your doctor and your pharmacist when you switch, you may feel repetitive but at least you’re getting all the facts. |

I also was switched to Aviane about 4-5 months ago because i was told that they do not make Alesse anymore. I was concerned about the change because i had been on Alesse for 6 years with no problems at all. I was told that they were the same but once i started taking them i became anxious, depressed, and extremely angry (not like me at all). I lost my sex drive and i really didnt care about anything. I would even burst out in tears for no reason! i really did feel like i was loosing my mind and loosing control of my life. Thank you all for your posts! I finally feel like i can get back to normal by a simple change of pills:)
I have only been on these two before so does anyone have suggestions as to which brand to switch to?
Thanks so much! |

| I have been on Aviane for 5 months and all summer everytime I have gone to the beach and spent a lot of time in the sun, I've gotten a horrible sun rash. I have also noticed I tear up a bit during some commercials - very awkward. I loved that my boobs got huge (I was pretty flat chested) but I am going to switch soon. |

Hi,
I've been taking Avaine for about 5 months and besides for slight nausea at the beginning of a new pack, I haven't had any issues. This is my first time taking birth control pills and I'm a professional dancer. I have noticed that I'm hungrier sometimes, but I excercise regularly and I haven't gained weight...I did notice that my breast size increased, though! |
