I must admit that I have never felt this miserable in my entire life! And right after the great happiness I felt when I delivered a beautiful baby girl. My baby was tested positive for galactosemia and all I could hear is that it is a severe condition that has to be treated immediately. This happened yesterday and I still cannot calm down...

Unfortunately, it is a severe condition, but the good thing is, it was discovered in time. I guess there will not be any long term effects because of her inability to absorb lactose and galactose. I assume that you have already started with a proper diet, which is the only way to deal with this condition. Let's hope that with a proper diet and a therapy she will have a normal and long life.
