Is bacterial meningitis the same disease as viral? My daughter had viral meningitis when she was two. Now I heard that my neighbor's son has it too. But he has bacterial meningitis. They asked me for advice how to treat him. I think that they should take him to a hospital but I am not sure. I treated my daughter home by using doctor's advices.

Tell them to go to hospital as soon as possible. Meningitis, especially bacterial can be wary dangerous. I had it when I was child. My parents did not know about that so they didn't take me to a doctor in time. Because of that I lost my hearing. I could even die. Luckily medications saved me. Please, tell them my story, so no other child suffers like me any more.
