I need information about bartholin abcesses. What causes abscess of bartholin glands? Is it std? I’m interested in methods of its prevention. When occurs, how is it treated? Thanks.

Bartholin glands are located at the entrance of vagina. Bartholin abscess occur when one or both glands are infected. Infection is often caused by Escherichia coli, Streptococcus, gonococcus or staphylococcus aureus. Abscess is treated with antibiotics. Methods of prevention infection are good personal hygiene and safe sex practicing.
