If you have allergy and use Benadryl, can that influence on HPTs. I am late. My period should start two weeks ago, but until now nothing happened. I took HPTs, and it turned negative. Now I don't know is it true or my allergy medicine, Benadryl, is causing negative results.

Hi, I use Benadryl myself for allergy especially in spring and summer. I tried a lot of medicine, but this was the best for me. I had, some years ago a problem like you. I was taking Benadryl, and also did HPTs. But mine was positive. Now I got a daughter. I went to hospital to check, because I wanted to be sure. I was really pregnant and Benadryl didn't have any influence on HPTs.

HPT's pick up a specific hormone in the body called HCG. There is no drugs that you can take over the counter to mimic this or suppress it, and usually only "false positives" are caused by certain types of ovarian cysts or tumors. If you have a negative result test now and still don't start your period in a week, test again. Best of luck!
