|

Hello, I had hammertoe surgery on my 2nd 3rd and 4th toes on my right foot on november 20th 2007. I am concerned that i will no longer be able to bend my toes because i cant bend them when i try. Has anyone who has undergone hammertoe surgery been able to bend their toes or not bend them afterwards? How long did it take? I do not have any pins in my toes. Please feel free to tell me about your hammertoe surgery.
thank you |

Hi Domin,
I'm curious to know how you are doing now with your recovery. I just had the surgery on all of my toes except the big toes. I do have pins in all but the pinkys.
I think I'm healing well, and have minimal swelling, but they do feel numb, cold and a bit painful still. It's been only 12 days since surgery though.
I am scared to have the pins removed in 2 more weeks, but my dr. promises it wont hurt!!! |

Hi Domin,
I had a bunionectomy and hammertoe surgery (2 - with metetarsal shorteneded, 4, 5 - all with silicone joint spacers). My surgery was 11.27.07. I had no pins in my toes and my incisions were done on the sides of my toes so any scars would be hidden. Around the sixth week after surgery, my toes began to feel like they were apart of my foot. I could wiggle them 2-3 weeks after surgery. As for bending them, PT helped alot. You can also try bending the toes on your other foot while you're working toes that had surgery. It should kind of help your toes to "remember" how to bend again. All in all, my toes bend pretty decent now.
I just had surgery on my left foot (same thing but with 2,3,4,5) on 1.29.08 and can wiggle my toes now (just not sure if I should be or not...). I wish you the best and hope this in some way helped... |
