Look you need to be a bit more informative if you expect a decent response!

could you please tell me:

Your age?

whether you might be overweight/underweight/under stress/ill? and if so, how severely?

if you have ever had unprotected sex, if so, when?

what days in your cycle you took the pregnancy tests?

what kind of pill you are now on? (mini pill? combined oral contraceptive?)

abnormal bleeding is a classic side effect of going on the pill, its called breakthrough bleeding. and its perfectly normal, when I went on the pill for the first time I bled for three weeks solid, you have to understand you are messing about with your hormones and so you will face a few minor side effects like these at first, but as your body adapts to the pills they go away after a couple of cycles.

please answer the questions and I can help you out a bit more!

It is not really abnormal to have random bleeding when you first go on the pill, here are some sites to help you:

I AM 18.
And yes i am under alot of stress. It is My first semester at college, and i am 600 miles away from home.
I took the test when i was 5 days late for my period. then i got a light one shortly after. Then i went and got put on birthcontrol, right at the end of mhy light cycle. and i started belleding about 3 dys later. I woke up this morning and it was slightly getting better, As for unprotected sex, yes. But i was careful, used the pull out method. but that was 2 months ago.
Thank you so much.

thanks for answering the questions,

well stress affects us more than we think, it could most definately delay your cycle! Personally I think that is what made your period a little irregular, if you had unprotected sex two months ago and have had a period since then you would seem safe, if you had conceived then you would have missed a period or had a light/short/scanty bleed before now.

but just to be sure, getting a negative pregnancy test two months after you last had unprotected sex would most certainly have been accurate by then, so I would trust in the results and the fact you have been bleeding since that time two months ago and say you are pretty much not pregnant, the tests are 99% accurate, ESPECIALLY clear blue, they are a great brand, they pick up pregnancies 15 days after you ovulated and would most CERTAINLY be accurate two months post sex.

the breakthrough bleeding is TOTALLY normal, loads of girls get it when they first start the pill, I got it too. Your body is simply adjusting to the hormone changes, it will go away after a couple of cycles. so relax! Very Happy and good luck at college!

I too got that when I first went on BC. I told my doctor and she gave me 2 options a) deal with it and see if it gets better, usually 3 months is the length of time they wait, or b) try a slightly stronger pill. I opted for option b. She had put me on the lowest pill out at the time and I wasn't waiting 3 months with bleeding constantly (I'm a dancer, periods aren't nice in a loetard). The slightly stronger pill did the trick and that's what I stuck with. Just talk to your doctor. I'm actually very surprised your doctor didn't warn you of this when you got the script. It was all in the speech my doc gave me.

Ok i have been having bleeding like as if i was having my period which i shouldnt be getting because i am on the pill and i only take the first three weeks and continue with the first three weeks i do not take the sugar pill so i do not get a period at all. I have been on the pills for 5 yrs now and am only now having this problem. I was on balziva and now im on nortrel but my dr said being on a new pill wouldnt have started my period. I seem to have problems with getting bladder infections often i have had 2 in the last 3 months and this one i have doesnt want to go away. I dont know what else to do and why i am bleeding for so long. The dr said it had nothing to do with having a bladder infection or the pills so idk what is going on with me. If someone could maybe help me out here id really appreciate it. thanks

tasha
